Some of my neighbors...although I'm not sure anyone actually lives in that house...it's pretty run down.
Some of the beautiful mountains that surround Perryville and the wind turbines that are in the village...a good indicator of how many layers you need to put on in the morning ;-)
Some more mountains and village houses.
That's pretty much what all the roads are like. 4-wheel drive is required at all times.
That blue metal building is the school. As you can see I have quite a walk in the morning...
I have not yet been down to the beach, and I have felt that it would be too touristy to go walking around the village taking pictures with my camera, but I probably just need to get over that. After all, I'm only going to be here for another three and a half weeks. Even if the people in the village think I'm silly, I'll be gone soon. And I need some pictures, gosh darn it! He he. I promise that I will take some more pictures of the pretty scenery and post them. I will especially make sure that I get a picture of the volcano that's near by.
Mary,I am a old friend of your mother's from high school.I am so amazed at what you are doing here. After reading your blogs,I would only say that you should follow your instincts when it comes to teaching these kids. If you love it they will too. Looks like you will have some great experiences to write about...let's just hope it is not about meeting any bears on the beach! Ha! Being an east Tennessee woman I cannot even imagine! Love the blog, and keep writing. Love the pics too!
ReplyDeleteHave I told you lately how stinking proud I am of you? Golly Moses, I love you, lady!
ReplyDeleteVolcanoes and bears?? And I thought I had it bad with suicidal deer and 40 mph winds...Oh, Mary, you are such a blessing to that school! And much more braver (braver?) Than I am!
